Vivek Ramaswamy, an Indian-American tech sector entrepreneur, announced last week his decision to enter the 2024 race for US President. His entrance into the race was greeted with enthusiasm from Republican and conservative supporters from the US and abroad. This news comes hot off the heels of Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2023, where Republican lawmakers and conservative leaders and activists gathered to discuss the future of the US.

Ramaswamy made his announcement in a tweet stating, “America needs a leader who can bring us together. A leader who will stand up for our values and fight for our future. I’m running for President of the United States.” This declaration of intent has been met with both support and criticism from the public, especially given the current political climate.

Ramaswamy’s campaign platform is focused on the issues of economic growth, national security, healthcare reform, and immigration reform. His platform also includes calls for eliminating the Department of Education and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The tech sector entrepreneur has also made an appearance on the CBS show “The Takeout”, where he discussed his campaign plans with show host Major Garrett. During the show, Ramaswamy discussed his plans to cut taxes, reduce regulations, and reduce government spending. He also advocated for term limits for elected officials, as well as for the elimination of the electoral college.

Ramaswamy is not the only Indian-American candidate for president. In recent years, Nikki Haley, the former US ambassador to the UN, has also thrown her hat into the presidential ring. This news is a sign of how far Indian-American politicians have come.

In appearances over the weekend, various Ohio Republicans talked at CPAC about the First Amendment, COVID, dismantling the FBI, and gun laws. The reactions to Ramaswamy’s announcement were mixed. While some praised his entry into the race, others criticized his policies.

The Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff is the latest target of a wave of conservative activism that takes issue with corporate “wokeness” including ESG, or environmental, social, and governance initiatives. Despite the criticism, Ramaswamy’s announcement has been met with enthusiasm from many Republican and conservative supporters.

Fox News correspondent Mark Meredith reported from CPAC 2023 on the potential 2024 presidential race. During his report, Meredith discussed the potential candidates and their platforms. He also noted that many Republican and conservative supporters are excited about the possibility of Ramaswamy entering the race.

In recent years, Indian-American politicians have become increasingly prominent in the US political landscape. Vivek Ramaswamy’s entry into the 2024 presidential race is a sign of the growing influence of Indian-Americans in US politics. It remains to be seen if Ramaswamy will be successful in his bid for the presidency.
