Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced on Sunday that he will not be running for the Republican nomination for President in 2024. In an op-ed published in The Washington Post, the longtime GOP leader said he believes his party should focus on attracting more voters in the future rather than focusing on his own ambitions.

The former governor, who has been one of the most outspoken Republican critics of former President Donald Trump, said he was worried that putting Trump back in the White House in 2024 would be a “grave mistake.” He also said he did not want to be a part of a “Trump-dominated GOP” and that he cares more about securing the future of the Republican party than securing his own future in the party.

Hogan, who served two terms as governor of Maryland, said he gave serious consideration to the idea of running for President, but ultimately decided against it. In the op-ed, Hogan listed a number of reasons why he believes it would be a “mistake” for the GOP to put Trump back in the White House in 2024. He said the Republican party should instead focus on attracting more voters, as well as working to address issues such as gun violence, national security, and international relations.

The former governor said he believes the GOP should be focused on finding ways to reach out to independent voters, young people, and those who may have become disillusioned with the Republican party. He said the party should make sure its positions are “clear and consistent,” and should be willing to “reach out and listen to all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation.”

Hogan also said the GOP should be willing to “embrace the future” and should be open to new ideas and new strategies. He said the Republican party should also be willing to work across the aisle to pass legislation that benefits the American people.

The former governor said he believes Republicans should focus on “solutions, not slogans” and should be willing to work together to find common ground on issues such as immigration, healthcare, the environment, and infrastructure. He said the party should also be willing to address the issue of climate change and should work to find ways to protect the environment for future generations.

In his op-ed, Hogan said he believes the Republican party should focus on unifying the country and should be willing to “build bridges, not walls.” He said the party should be focused on “improving the lives of all Americans” and should be “open to new ideas and approaches.”

Hogan concluded his op-ed by saying he believes the Republican party should be focused on “building a stronger, brighter future for all Americans.” He said he is optimistic that this can be achieved and that the GOP can once again be “the party of Lincoln.”
