The Green Party of England and Wales has been dealt a blow, with one of its founding members, Lourda Scott, making a public statement saying “it’s too late” to save the environment. Ms. Scott, a Green Party councillor for Greystones, issued a statement that expressed her deep concern for the state of the environment and the future of the planet. She warned that a “tsunami of evictions” was likely to hit the local area, and said that the government had failed to protect its citizens from the effects of climate change.
Two other Green Party TDs have also expressed concern about the potential for a rise in homelessness if the current eviction ban is lifted. The Green TD for Dublin Central, Neasa Hourigan, has called on the government to extend the ban and to provide more supports for those at risk of homelessness. Ms. Hourigan argued that lifting the ban would result in more people becoming homeless and that the government must do its part to protect citizens from the impacts of climate change.
The Green Party is also focusing on environmental issues in other countries. In the United States, the Wisconsin Green Party is planning to hold a state membership meeting on February 25, 2023. This will be an opportunity for Green Party members to discuss environmental issues and policies that could help to protect the environment. The Green Party has also become involved in politics in other countries, such as in Turkey, where an Ankara court recently found the Interior Ministry guilty of preventing the establishment of the Green Party.
