The public is familiar with the many sex scandals involving U.S. presidents, from Franklin D. Roosevelt to Donald Trump. But what is not commonly known is that there were nine presidents who faced sex scandals before and during their term in office. Franklin D. Roosevelt married Eleanor Roosevelt, his fifth cousin once removed, in 1905. This was a scandalous affair at the time, but Roosevelt went on to become one of the most beloved presidents of all time.

After Roosevelt, there was President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was accused of having an affair with his secretary, Kay Summersby. Eisenhower denied the accusation and was never proven guilty, but it was a major scandal that was reported on widely in the press. President John F. Kennedy was also accused of having multiple extramarital affairs, including with actress Marilyn Monroe. Kennedy never admitted to any of the affairs, but the rumors persisted throughout his time in office.

President Lyndon B. Johnson was also accused of having an affair with a woman named Madeleine Brown. Johnson was never proven guilty, but the rumors of his infidelity were common knowledge. President Richard Nixon was also accused of having an affair with a woman named Judith Campbell Exner. Nixon denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but the scandal was a major distraction for his administration.

President Gerald Ford was accused of having an affair with a woman named Betty Ford. Ford again denied the accusation, but it was widely known and was a major scandal. President Jimmy Carter was accused of having an affair with a woman named Gennifer Flowers. Carter denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but it was a major scandal throughout his term in office.

President Ronald Reagan was accused of having an affair with a woman named Nancy Davis. Reagan denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but it was a major scandal throughout his term in office. President George H.W. Bush was accused of having an affair with a woman named Jennifer Fitzgerald. Bush again denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but it was a major scandal throughout his term in office.

President Bill Clinton was accused of having an affair with a woman named Monica Lewinsky. Clinton denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but it was a major scandal throughout his term in office. President Donald Trump was accused of having an affair with a woman named Stormy Daniels. Trump denied the accusation, and it was never proven, but it was a major scandal throughout his term in office.

It is clear that sex scandals have been a part of U.S. politics for many decades. While some of the accusations have been proven, most have not. However, the accusations and scandals have been a major distraction for the presidents involved, and have had an effect on their time in office.
