The 2024 presidential campaign is already in full swing, with more and more candidates jumping in and others bowing out. A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll has shown a drop in support for Donald Trump and a strong start for Ron DeSantis. Meanwhile, current President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are facing a corner as they refuse to even privately admit the obvious.

Washington is abuzz with speculation about who will be running in the next election, as the nation is just over 600 days away from the 60th presidential election. Several people have already announced their candidacy, though the Republican's face a likely crowded field in their effort to challenge President Biden.

Former President Donald Trump is reportedly looking at female running mates, with Kari Lake being used as a potential model for his vice presidential pick. On the other hand, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu predicted that Trump will lose the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

Meanwhile, four years after a historically large number of candidates ran for president, the field for the 2024 campaign is far smaller. Among the Democrats, former self-help author Marianne Williamson has caused a stir after announcing her challenge to President Biden. Biden has yet to officially announce his candidacy, though a New York Times/Siena College poll released Monday showed a drop of support for Trump in key states.

The election is still more than a year away, and while the race has already begun to heat up, it's still too soon to tell who will be in the running come 2024. However, as more and more candidates enter the race, it looks like the competition is going to be fierce.
