Four people were tragically killed Tuesday afternoon in a mid-air plane crash over a lake near Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Sheriff's Office has identified the four victims in the collision as a 19-year-old flight student from Winter Haven, a flight instructor from Fort Lauderdale, a passenger from Carlisle, Pennsylvania and the pilot of the second plane, whose identity has not been released.

The crash happened over Lake Hartridge in Winter Haven, Florida, when two small planes collided in mid-air. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that the 19-year-old student pilot was in a single-engine plane with a flight instructor when it collided with a larger, single-engine plane that was occupied by the pilot and a passenger.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said that it is continuing to investigate the cause of the mid-air collision. They are working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to determine why the two planes collided. The sheriff's office said that both planes were destroyed in the collision, and that the four victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old student pilot was identified as being from Winter Haven, and the flight instructor was identified as being from Fort Lauderdale. The Polk County Sheriff's Office did not release the identity of the passenger from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, but they said that they were in their mid-40s. The identity of the pilot of the other plane has not been released, however, the sheriff's office said that they were in their late 50s.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said that the four victims of the mid-air collision were all experienced pilots who had logged many hours in the air. They said that the investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing and that it could take months before a definitive cause is determined.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said that safety is a top priority for them and that they will work closely with the FAA and NTSB in order to ensure that similar tragedies do not occur in the future. They also said that they are offering their condolences to the families of the four victims of the crash.
