Georgetown University's politics program, known as GU Politics, plays a crucial role in fostering political engagement and dialogue among students. With a focus on promoting a balanced discussion on various political issues, GU Politics offers a platform for students to learn, engage, and participate in the political process.

Home Get Involved GU Politics Trips Each year, we organize trips to visit party conventions, caucuses, national and international events to provide students with firsthand experience in the political arena. These trips offer unique opportunities for students to witness democracy in action and gain valuable insights into the political landscape.

GU Politics is proud to support other academic units and approved student organizations interested in promoting a balanced dialogue at Georgetown to offer a diverse range of perspectives on political issues. By collaborating with different groups on campus, GU Politics aims to create a vibrant and inclusive political environment for students to explore various viewpoints.

Ahead of a new school year, we are excited to announce the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service (GU Politics) Fall 2024 program, which will feature a lineup of prominent speakers, interactive workshops, and engaging events designed to educate and empower students to become active participants in the political process.

The Student Advisory Board (SAB) plays a crucial role in informing GU Politics programming for students across campus on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. By providing valuable feedback and insights, the SAB helps shape the direction of GU Politics initiatives and ensures that students have access to a diverse range of political resources and opportunities.

In the heated run-up to the U.S. presidential election, Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is diving deep into American democracy through a series of engaging events and discussions organized by GU Politics. These initiatives aim to educate students at GU-Q about the U.S. political system and encourage them to participate in the democratic process.

As we wrap up this semester and get ready for the next, we are excited to announce the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service's upcoming events and programs. From panel discussions to workshops and guest lectures, GU Politics is committed to providing students with a rich and engaging political education experience.

On Thursday, April 11, Georgetown students filled Gaston Hall to hear former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson have a candid discussion about global politics and the future of democracy. The event, organized by GU Politics, provided students with a unique opportunity to engage with a prominent political figure and gain valuable insights into international affairs.

Georgetown welcomed former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Florida), and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for a series of engaging discussions and events organized by GU Politics. These events offered students a firsthand look at the inner workings of politics and provided them with an opportunity to interact with leading political figures.

Throughout the semester, our Spring 2024 GU Politics Fellows engaged with Georgetown students in weekly discussions about democracy, political activism, and civic engagement. These sessions provided students with valuable insights into the political process and encouraged them to become active participants in shaping the future of our democracy.
