LONDON (AP) — The prospect of Russian interference in Britain's election flared anew Saturday after the social media platform Reddit came under scrutiny. Concerns have been raised about the potential for foreign actors to manipulate discussions and spread misinformation on the platform.

Slate political reporter David Weigel responded to questions Friday during an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This transcript has been edited to remove any identifying information. Weigel discussed the impact of social media on politics and the challenges of moderating online discussions.

What's going on over at Reddit? The popular chatroom, which bills itself as 'the front page of the internet', has been accused of blocking certain political content while allowing others to flourish. This has raised questions about the platform's commitment to free speech and neutrality.

The division within Reddit is far more complicated than a simple split between Republicans and Democrats, according to the Pew Research Center. Users come from diverse backgrounds and political ideologies, creating a dynamic and often contentious online community.
