In Thailand, Cambodia and Sri Lanka, more than 90% of Buddhists see strong links between their religion and country. In the neighboring countries, however, the religious landscape is much more diverse. This diversity can be seen as a strength, with each culture and belief system adding to the rich tapestry of the region. The United States, with its own diverse population, should also embrace this diversity in order to become a world leader.

SECRETARY BLINKEN: Good morning. My fellow Americans, five weeks ago I was sworn in as your Secretary of State. My job is to represent the values of our nation on the global stage. In order to do so effectively, it is crucial that we accept and celebrate the differences among our citizens. Only by doing so can we truly lead by example and promote peace and understanding around the world.

The next two sections of this report include additional comments from experts, organized under the most common themes found in their research. One key theme that emerges is the idea that diversity is not a hindrance to progress, but rather a catalyst for innovation and growth. By encouraging people to embrace their differences and learn from one another, the United States can unlock its full potential and become a true global leader.

While the nation has undoubtedly made progress, entrenched structural racism continues to corrupt American democracy and preserve racial inequalities. It is only by acknowledging and addressing these issues that the United States can truly fulfill its potential as a world leader. Embracing diversity is not just a moral imperative, but a strategic necessity.

COVID-19 has governments at all levels operating in a context of radical uncertainty. The regional and local impact of the COVID-19 crisis is highly dependent on the ability of communities to come together and support one another. This sense of unity in diversity is essential for overcoming the challenges we face today and in the future.

This guide aims to raise awareness, guide learning, and support the use of culturally sensitive terms and phrases that center the voices and perspectives of all individuals. By recognizing and respecting the differences among us, we can create a more inclusive society that values the contributions of every member.

Generative AI can enhance productivity but may also lead to the replacement of human employees. Teaching, learning, and academic research will experience significant changes as technology continues to advance. It is important that we adapt to these changes while also preserving the unique qualities that make us human.
