The Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday passed a landmark bill to make teaching of Gujarati language compulsory from classes 1 to 8 in all schools of the state. This move is a part of the government’s plan to revive the mother tongue and promote its culture. The Gujarat Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Gujarati Language Bill provides for the cancellation of registration of schools violating the provisions of the bill.

The bill emphasizes on the need of Gujarati language education in the state. According to the bill, it is mandatory for all schools to teach the language from classes 1 to 8. The bill also provides for the cancellation of registration of schools violating the provisions of the bill. It also provides for a provision that if a school fails to comply with the provisions, it will be liable to pay a fine ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 1 lakh.

The bill is seen as an important step towards the promotion of the mother tongue. The state government believes that learning the language will help students to understand their own culture and tradition better. The bill will also help to promote the language in other parts of the country and abroad.

The bill also provides for the appointment of a language professor who will be responsible for monitoring the teaching of the language in the schools. The professor will be responsible for evaluating the progress of the students in the language and will also provide feedback to the school authorities.

This proposal revises the required age for compulsory school attendance from 16 to 18 years of age. The bill aims to deter high school dropouts and encourage students to stay in school and complete the required education. The state government believes that this bill will reduce the number of dropouts and ensure that the students get the required education.

The bill also provides for the provision of special classes for students who are unable to understand the language. The classes will be conducted by the language professor and will be aimed at helping students to learn the language.

The bill is seen as a major step towards the promotion of Gujarati language and culture. It is expected that this move will go a long way in reviving the language and promoting its culture.
