Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Blake Masters' rival, former Arizona attorney general candidate Abe Hamadeh, in a U.S. House race. The battle between Masters and Hamadeh for a deep-red House seat in Arizona is testing the bounds of what will fly in a Republican primary. Masters, who lives 120 miles away from the district in Tucson, will face off against Abraham Hamadeh, a former prosecutor and candidate for Congress. Former President Trump, who backed both candidates in 2022, endorsed Hamadeh for Congress.

This is a candidate who released an ad last month highlighting the same claims — and showing a photo of Hamadeh during a visit to Mecca. Hamadeh has been criticized by Arizona congressional candidate Blake Masters for not being married or having the same conservative values. After losing his Senate race last year in Arizona, Mr. Masters, a Trump-backing Republican, is running in a primary against a onetime rival.

Opinion: The already-sleazy race to win an open seat in Arizona's Congressional District 8 just got sleazier. Blake Masters is one oily candidate who will stop at nothing to win the election. The contest for the seat currently held by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is regarded as a potential Republican pickup as the party tries to win back control of Congress.
