A look ahead at what to expect in the 2024 election.

The 2024 election is just around the corner and candidates are already gearing up. Nick Myers, chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, said “I'm honored to unofficially be here to kind of kick off the 2024 election cycle.” With the election barely a year away, cities like Los Angeles have already started preparing for the seven City Council contests.

The countdown has already begun. Days until the Mississippi primary are listed at 155 and days until the election are listed at 610. There are already conferences of conservative activists in the works and some schools have already taken the initiative to make November 3, 2024 a non-instructional civic engagement day.

The 2024 election is looking to be a hotly contested race with several candidates in the running. Former President Donald Trump has declared his candidacy, as have some other notable Republicans. There is also talk of former Vice President Joe Biden entering the race.

One of the main issues on everyone’s lips is gun laws. The 2020 election saw a rise in the number of gun control activists calling for stricter gun control laws. This trend is expected to continue into the 2024 election and will likely be a major issue.

Another major issue will be energy. Eskom, the electricity provider in South Africa, has implemented scheduled electricity outages on every day in 2023, which will no doubt be a major talking point in the 2024 election.

The election is also likely to feature a lot of discussion about national security. In light of the 2020 election, the national security of the US is a major concern, and this is expected to be a major point in the upcoming election.

The 2024 election is also likely to have an international focus. With the Trump presidency coming to an end and the Biden administration taking over, there will be a lot of questions about how the US plans to handle foreign relations in the coming years.

Finally, a major issue in the 2024 election is expected to be the date of the primary election itself. Currently, the date overlaps with a major Jewish holiday, and both Democrats and Republicans are asking legislative leaders to consider changing it.

Overall, the 2024 election looks to be an exciting race. From gun laws to foreign relations, there are sure to be a lot of issues that will be discussed and debated throughout the election cycle.
