Democrats attack journalists for covering Deep State censorship

At a House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing to examine internal Twitter documents, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas, was accused of badgering journalist Matt Taibbi into revealing a source on Thursday. The hearing uncovered Democrats' chilling message to journalists, as they were attacked for daring to cover Deep State's censorship of Twitter CEO Elon Musk. Rep. Plaskett ripped into Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger during the hearing, even accusing the pair of endangering the lives of those involved.

In his opening statement, Taibbi eviscerated Twitter and other social and mainstream media outlets, claiming that these companies have become "the greatest threat to open discourse in human history". Taibbi explained that the Twitter Files, which he had seen ahead of his testimony, exposed the danger posed by the company's internal decisions. He also argued that the company violated its terms of service by allowing the censorship of governments and corporations.

The hearing also included testimony from Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who provided select journalists with internal communications at the social media giant. The documents included communications between the company and government officials, as well as internal Twitter discussions about how to handle government requests for content review. Musk defended the company's internal decisions, and argued that it was necessary to comply with government requests to maintain order and safety on the platform.

Democrats attacked Taibbi and Shellenberger for their reporting on the issue, accusing them of endangering the lives of those involved. They argued that the journalists were taking advantage of the situation to further their own agenda. Taibbi and Shellenberger rejected these accusations, claiming that they had no intention of endangering anyone. They argued that their reporting was done in the public interest, and that the information they revealed was already in the public domain.

The hearing was a stark reminder of the power of the government to censor and punish journalists who cover stories it finds uncomfortable. The message was clear: journalists who dare to cover the Deep State and its censorship of Big Tech will be attacked by Democrats if they don't reveal their sources. This is a chilling message for journalists who are already facing increasing levels of censorship and suppression.
